Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is the sodium salt of glutamic acid or the flavor enhancer that intensifies the meaty, savory flavor of food, it is added to many food we consume everyday, like processed food, canned soup, crackers, chips, salad dressings, frozen dinners and many more. It is more than a seasoning like salt and pepper, it's actually enhances the flavor of foods.
But is always blamed for a range of nasty side effects, it is said that large doses of MSG can cause headaches and other minor health issues such as 1. fatigue, 2. disorientation, 3. depression, 4. obesity, etc. Research say more amount of MSG in daily diet can cause obesity and other health issues related to obesity like cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes etc.
So we should try to avoid processed food and snacks which contain MSG to stay away from health issues.
