How to perfectly cook Pulao

Perfectly cooked puloa

For sweet pulao-
1. Take 2 cups of rice in 4 cups of water (double the water)
2. Add required spices to water, when water starts to boil add the rice.
3. Cook covered for 15-20 minutes on low to medium flame.
4. Add sugar/jaggery at the end. Then cook for 5 more minutes.
5. Put ghee(clarified butter) & serve hot.
-Adding sugar at the end will help the rice to cook perfectly.
-Adding sugar at beginning won't cook the rice as well as the rice may stick to the bottom.

For vegetable pulao
1. Take 2 cups of rice in 5 cups of water.
2. Boil water with vegetables, salt, spices, ghee/oil after few minutes add the rice.
3. Cook covered for 15-20 minutes on low to medium heat.
4. If you want to add fried vegetables then take 2 cups of water for 2 cups of rice.
5. Add salt, spices, when water comes to a boil add the rice.
6. Cook covered for 10-15 minutes.
7. Now add the fried vegetables and cook for 5-10 minutes more.
8. Garnish with mint leaves or coriander leaves and serve hot.

For boiled rice pulao
1.Take 1 cup of rice with 3 cups of water. 
2. Soak the boiled rice before 2 hours prior to cooking.
3. Add salt, oil & spices to water and bring it to boil, add rice.
4. Cook covered on low to medium heat for 30-40 minutes.
5. Keep it covered for 15 minutes more and serve hot.

For pressure cooker 
1. Take 1 cup of rice for 2 cups of water (double the water)
2. Add salt, ghee/oil, spices, water and rice, all in the pressure cooker.
3. Cook on medium heat for 2 whistle.
4. Turn off the heat and wait till pressure is released.
5. Serve hot with curd or curry.

1. Balanced diet- Food is the most important thing of every living being. Food not only gives us energy to work but also gives us all kind of essential nutrients, that helps our body to grow and fight with diseases, boosts our immune system which helps us to stay away from air born and water born viruses and bacteria.

Importance of our daily food- What they contain
 1. Macronutrients- These are the nutrients that provide calories and energy which are essential for growth, metabolism and also building blocks for growth and maintenance of a healthy body. And these are needed relatively in large amounts. They are- Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat.

 3. Non-nutrients- Water and fibers are non-nutrients, but are important substances that we need to include in our diets to stay healthy.

As mentioned above from Carbohydrates, proteins to vitamins, minerals and water everything is equally important for the development and maintenance of our body.
-Thus having a balanced meal is the only key to have a healthy body, skin and mind.
-Balanced diet includes all kind of macro, micro and non-nutrients.

Chicken Pasta | Chicken pasta with tomato sauce

Chicken pasta


1. Boiled chicken 1 cup (cut into small pieces)
2. Boiled pasta 1 cup 
3. Onion half cup (cut into juliennes)
4. Tomatoes two
5. Red chili sauce 2 tbs
6. Salt to taste
7. Rosemary spice 1 tsp
8. Oregano 1 tsp
9. Black pepper powder 1 tsp
10. Coriander leaves (chopped)
11. Olive oil 1 tbs
12. Garlic 1 clove (chopped)
13. Mild cheddar cheese (optional)


1. To make tomato sauce, take 2 tomatoes, red chili sauce and salt to taste, add some water and grind it to paste, keep it aside.
2. In a pan take 1 tbs of olive oil, add half cup of onion saute till they turn golden brown.
3. Now add chopped garlic and chicken and cook for 2-3 minutes.
4. Pour the tomato sauce and cook for 5-7 minutes on low to medium heat.
5. Now add salt to taste, rosemary and lemon peel spice, oregano and black pepper powder, cook for 2 more minutes.
6. Now add coriander leaves and boiled pasta and cook for 2-3 more minutes.
7. Finally add mild cheddar cheese and serve hot.

Tips to cut onion

1. Cut a piece of onion and put it on the knife while cutting the onions to avoid tearing.
2. Put the onions in the freezer for 30 minutes before cutting them.
3. Microwave the onion for 20 seconds before cutting.
4. Chew something while cutting onions.
5. Soak the onion in warm water before cutting.
6. Cut the root of the onion at last.
7. Use a sharp knife so that fewer enzyme is released while cutting the onion.

How to perfectly cook Biryani Rice

Tips to cook biryani rice

For dum biryani (chicken)
1. For 2 cups of basmati rice, take 5 cups of water.
2. Add salt to taste, biryani spices and 2 tbs of ghee/vegetable oil to the water.
3. When water starts to boil put the rice and cook for 15-20 minutes or till the rice is half cooked.
4. Drain the excess water.
5. Now use the rice for dum biryani.

For one-pot biryani (chicken)
1. Soak basmati rice for 2 hours before cooking.
2. Prepare the biryani curry with masala and spices.
3. Add the soaked basmati rice.
4. For 2 cups of rice use 4 cups of water.
5. Cook for 30 minutes on lower to medium flame.
 6. Add few tbs of water if needed.

For vegetable and egg biryani
1. For 2 cups of rice take 4 cups of water.
2. Boil water with all biryani spices, salt and oil/ghee.
3. Add the rice and cover the lid.
4. Cook for 15 minutes on medium to high heat.
5. Now add prepared vegetables or eggs (as desired).
6. Cook for 10-15 more minutes on low heat.

Hot and sour chicken soup

Hot and sour chicken soup


1. Boiled chicken 1 cup (cut into small pieces)
2. Ginger 1/2 tsp (finely chopped)
3. Garlic 1/2 tsp (finely chopped)
4. Green chili 1 (finely chopped)
5. Tomato sauce 1 tbs
6. Green chili sauce 1/2 tbs
7. Soy sauce 1 tsp
8. Olive oil 1 tbs
9. Salt to taste
10. Black pepper powder
11. Coriander leaves (for garnishing)
12. Corn starch 1 tbs


1. In a sauce pan take 1 tbs of olive oil, add chopped garlic, chopped ginger and chopped green chili saute them for a minute.
2. Now add the boiled chicken, saute for couple of minutes add salt to taste and pour 2 cups of water.
3. When the water starts to boil pour corn starch mix (mix 5 tbs water to 1 tbs of corn starch) let it boil.
4. Now add tomato sauce, green chili sauce, soy sauce and black pepper powder. Let it to boil for 5-7 minutes.
5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Food remedy for UTI (urinary tract infection)


Urinary tract infection can be painful as well as irritating. But by simple food remedies, UTI can be treated at home.

1. Drink plenty of water, atleast 8-10 glasses of water everyday to avoid UTI. If you see any sign of UTI, drink 10-12 glasses of water a day. This can help to flush away the bacteria that causes infection.
2. Eat food or drink juices which contains more amount of Vitamin C. As Vitamin C helps to make the urine more acidic and this inhibits the growth of bacteria. 
Few fruits and vegetables that contain higher number of Vitamin C are, Orange, lime, lemon, guava, kiwi, berries, Green leafy vegetables, bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli.
3. Eat fruits with high water content like, Watermelon, cantaloupe, grapefruit, strawberries, pineapple.
4. Eat plenty of vegetables with high water content, Cucumber, zucchini, celery, lettuce, radish.
5. Baking soda and water also helps to reduce UTI.

Tips to cook Brown rice

There are three ways to cook brown rice-

1. The perfect cooked brown rice- 
-To make perfect cooked brown rice, in a big saucepan boil 3 cups of water.
- Wash the 1 cup of brown rice and put in the boiled water.
- Cover and cook on medium heat for 35-40 minutes.
- Drain the excess water and cover it for 10-15 minutes.
- Perfectly cooked steamed brown rice is ready.

2. Sticky brown rice-
- To make sticky brown rice, In a big saucepan take 2 cups of water,  1 cup of brown rice and 2 tsp of salt.
- Cook covered on low to medium heat for 45-50 minutes. Add water and stir as required.
- Turn off the heat and keep it aside covered for 10-15 minutes.
(No need to drain)

3. How to cook brown rice quickly-
- To cook the brown rice quickly, soak the 1 cup of brown rice for 4-5 hours.
- In a big saucepan take 2 cups of water and 2 tsp salt, let it boil.
- When water starts boiling add the soaked rice into it.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes on medium to high heat. (add water if required)
- Drain the excess water.
- Quick made steamed brown rice is ready.
